The award-winning event series MET LIVE IN HD kicks off the 2026/2027 season on 19 September 2026 with a birthday gala — 20 Years of Met Live in HD — hosted live by Renée Fleming. The program will feature highlights from the repertoire of more than 185 broadcasts, showcasing unforgettable moments with some of the greatest opera stars, including Jonas Kaufmann, Joyce DiDonato, Lise Davidsen, Asmik Grigorian, Elina Garança, Roberto Alagna, Piotr Beczała, Juan Diego Flórez, René Pape, and many others.
On 3 October 20263, Mozart's enchanting ensemble piece COSÌ FAN TUTTE follows, sending two couples on an emotional rollercoaster. Shortly after, the drama intensifies as Verdi's power-obsessed MACBETH takes the stage, alongside his ruthless Lady Macbeth — a role debut for the outstanding Lise Davidsen. As the year draws to a close, Aigul Akhmetshina showcases her versatility in the title role of Saint-Saëns' SAMSON ET DALILA, treacherously stripping the unsuspecting Samson of his power.
The new year begins on 10 January 2027 with a new production of Puccini's rarely performed opera LA FANCIULLA DEL WEST, before the series resumes in April 2027 — after a slightly longer spring break — with Jules Massenet's Parisian Belle Époque masterpiece MANON, a signature role for the stunning Nadine Sierra. Also in April 2027, arguably the most famous of all jealousy stories takes the stage: Verdi's OTELLO, featuring a stellar cast in Bartlett Sher's impressive production.
Closing the MET LIVE IN HD season, June 5th brings a meeting of superstars Elina Garança, Piotr Beczała, and Peter Mattei in Richard Wagner's sonically magnificent final masterpiece PARSIFAL. François Girard's timeless production illuminates the countless facets of the deeply spiritual score against a surreal landscape, delivering breathtaking projections.
Once again, cinema audiences in Germany and Austria can look forward to the unmistakable atmosphere of the world's most famous opera house.
