LEONINE Studios and Sky Deutschland expand partnership with a multi-year license deal

  • Sky Deutschland acquires exclusive first pay TV rights and exclusive SVOD rights for a period of 12 months to upcoming LEONINE Studios top titles with theatrical release starting January 1, 2022
  • Exclusive pay TV and non-exclusive SVOD rights to a number of library titles are also part of the agreement

Munich, January 18, 2022 – LEONINE Studios and Sky Deutschland have signed a multi-year licensing agreement. With this agreement, Sky Deutschland secures the exclusive first pay TV rights and the exclusive SVOD rights for a period of 12 months to the upcoming theatrical feature films and home entertainment titles from LEONINE Studios' premium content line-up. In addition, the exclusive pay TV and non-exclusive SVOD rights to a number of library titles are part of the deal.

LEONINE Studios CEO Fred Kogel comments the deal: "We’re delighted that we can now complement our long-standing production partnership with Sky Deutschland, which includes among others, Sky Originals such as THE IBIZA AFFAIR and PAGAN PEAK from our production division, with an extensive premium line-up of top German and international feature films."

This multi-year licensing partnership will include an impressive line-up of top feature films. It is an important step for Sky and allows us to bring even more fantastic content to our customers”.

The multi-year license agreement includes among others Simon Kinberg’s THE 355, Roland Emmerich’s MOONFALL, Guy Ritchie’s OPERATION FORTUNE, Reid Carolin’s and Channing Tatum’s DOG, Jennifer Lopez starrer SHOTGUN WEDDING as well as two upcoming German films: The LEONINE Studios’ co-production THE SCHOOL OF MAGICAL ANIMALS 2, the sequel to Germany’s most successful theatrical release 2021 with more than 1.5 million admissions, and the upcoming comedy JGA, the second film by award winning director Alireza Golafshan (THE GOLDFISH) from LEONINE Studios’ production banner Wiedemann & Berg Film, the producers of Germany’s No. 1 hits NIGHTFALL and WELCOME TO GERMANY.
