Last night, the new mystery thriller BRICK celebrated its world premiere at the Munich International Film Festival as part of the “Spotlight” series. At the sold-out screening, which ran simultaneously in two theaters of the ASTOR Film Lounge at ARRI cinema, the captivating film about a mysterious, impenetrable wall that cuts off the residents of a Hamburg apartment building from the outside world overnight captivated the audience.
In the Q&A following the screening, director and writer Philip Koch spoke out in favor of remaining open, echoing the metaphorical level of the film: “Let’s tear down more walls than we are building in this day and age.” And lead actor Matthias Schweighöfer spoke out in favor of more genre films: “Make as many genre movies as you can and get them out into the world!”
